Black History Month - Community Champions - We Are Enfield

Join us for an evening of celebration of our black culture! Take part in the unity of our communities from our younger generation, to our elders. Hear untold stories and celebrate who we are and what we are achieving! Take this opportunity to explore and engage with amazing people who bring light to our culture.


Four black community heroes in our area will be interviewed by four black artists, some who are up and coming, straight out of sixth form and some artists whose art you may have seen in the community. The artists will interpret the four stories and portray their life through art! The pieces of art will be displayed in the foyer of the Millfield Theatre, where you’ll be able to explore in detail, the champions lives through the artist‘s vision and interpretation. As you gaze upon untold stories and powerful art, you'll get to listen to our classical pianist playing traditional African descendant music! Enjoy traditional cultural food and talk to local organisations on how they bring positive and encouraging attributes to our community!


The doors to the theatre will then open and you will get the chance watch and hear stories from our four community champions told through dance, spoken word, singing and other forms of expressive art through the vision of local creatives working alongside Platinum Performing Arts


We want to know our history and respect ALL that have fought, spoke up and sacrificed for us. The evening is about celebrating where they have allowed us to reach and what we have achieved; breaking the mold of how we should be or what people expect of us! Showing strength in our community and strength in numbers! Celebrate the here and now, to build our history with bricks of community, unity and achievement so strong that we can NEVER be silenced again.
